Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk became a center of international collaboration. There are offices of big oil and gas companies from Japan, Netherlands, and the USA in the city. Branch offices of the companies from India, China and Republic of Korea are opened here.
Government of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk supports international relations. Among twin cities of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk are Asakhigava and Khakodate in Japan. Regular meetings with business community from Japanese cities Sapporo and the most northern Japan city – Vakkanay- take place here. Korean city Ansan has recently become a twin city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. International relations of the Regional Center are firstly turned to development of small and medium sized business, building industry, medicine. Cultural and sport links are being expanded also. Today we do not speak about one-time visits but about dozens of delegations coming to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
